Film poster mock ups...

I created three mock ups to see how i should lay out my poster to see what would be the best possible layout for my poster.

The title is at the top of the poster as this will make the title stand out and will be the first thing that people will be drawn to.
The image is in the middle of the page as it is the main focal point on the magazine this will also attract the audience with the actors as they will be on the front page.

The release date of the film on the right hand side as this makes it stand out which will stand out in the audiences mind so that they know when the film is coming out so that they can prebook tickets.

The actors names will be at the bottom of the screen if they are actors that are not well known as they will not detract from the poster.
The production info is at the bottom of the page as it is the least important information all of the small print is at the bottom of the page because not many people will read all of the small print.

The title is at the top of the poster as this will make the title stand out and will be the first thing that people will be drawn to it.
The actors are on the top of the page because they may be well known actors as this would be a selling point for the film.

The release date for the film is on the left hand side as this will be what people are drawn to so it will be a Major thing on poster as people will then remember it so they will be more likely to go to the film.

The image is on the left hand side as it is not the main point on the page as the release date will stick in the audiences mind
The production info is at the bottom of the page as it is the least important information all of the small print is at the bottom of the page because not many people will read all of the small print.

The actors names will be at the bottom of the screen if they are actors that are not well known as they will not detract from the poster.
The production info is at the bottom of the page as it is the least important information all of the small print is at the bottom of the page because not many people will read all of the small print.
The image is the main thing in the poster as the actors and the picture will give an incite into the movie

The Title is under the picture as the picture is the most important part of the message.

The actors names will be at the bottom of the screen if they are actors that are not well known as they will not detract from the poster.
The production info is at the bottom of the page as it is the least important information all of the small print is at the bottom of the page because not many people will read all of the small print.

Representation in our trailer

The females is this trailer are presented as week and vulnerable which could link in with the stereotypical view of how females are represented in films such as when they are represented as needed rescuing which we have prorated in our teaser trailer. We have chosen to do this as it enables our target audience to relate to the main protagonist as some girls that age do feel vulnerable which they will then link to the main character. The other female is taking her best friends boyfriend from her so she shown as backstabbing and "bitchy" which some people have a view that female can be like that.

In our Trailer there is not a difference is class shown within the trailer most of the actors shown would represent is middle class as of the clothes and the location such as the house as this is the target audience that we are aiming for and that are a middle class as they having the money to spend on luxury products such as going to the cinema and buying DVD's.

Age is represented in trailer with all of the shots being our teenagers shows many different aspects of teenage life. It shows is the film how the males can  be inconsiderate but then the male who is the best friend it shows a caring and a loving side to the male which will make the female audience enjoy the film more as they will want to see how the male behaves.  The females one is shown as being quite backstabbing and sneaky which female may have come across which would allow them to relate to them. Also it shows the girl being rational and confused which the target audience will be able to relate to but will also be able to learn something from our Teaser Trailer.

Narrative stages of our teaser trailer!

The first thing that is shown in the teaser trailer is the happy scenes at the start with the best friend and the girl hugging which shows that they have a relationship but are not Boyfriend and Girlfriend, we have shown these because we wanted to show how Chloe's life was perfect before.
We then flash to show Chloe sat on the floor which shows the distribution in her life which will create many questions within the audiences brain and they will want to know why her life has been disrupted.

We then see shots of the distribution which shows in depth some of the things that have happened to see how the distribution will effect the Chloe but in the clips we do not give to much away so it still creates questions in the audiences head.

Through out the flash backs we show parts of the girl sitting in the bathroom as it is meant to show the girls still distraught and confused and with the flashbacks are showing her thought processes that the girl is going through.

When the girl rings of the phone it is showing that she is reaching out for someone but the audience are then left with a bigger cliffhanger with the two male characters both answering the phone and saying hello as then the audience do not know which one the girl has rung so they will want to watch the film.

Questionnaire Analysis

Questionnaire Analysis

We conducted a questionnaire to find out what our focus group thought of our rough draft of LOVEDRUG!
The questionnaire was compiled as to get an in depth look at the trailer and so we can see what areas we need to improve. The focus group consisted of 10 people from our target audience as this would help us know what we need to improve to make sure that our trailer appeals to our target audience.

Question 1. The response to the question is that all of the respondents thought that the genre of the film portrayed a Romance genre which is pleasing as this was the genre that we were aiming for.

Question 2. The response to question 2 is that the majority voted that there were about the right amount of clips in the trailer with 7 choosing about right. Two people chose that there were too many clips and we will take this in to consideration while doing the final edits to our film. 1 person chose that there were not enough clips in the trailer which we will look at when we are in the final editing.

Question 3. From question three we took into consideration what the focus group thought would be the best to get rid of clips throughout the teaser trailer as people said that there were too many clips we have chosen to take out the scene where our main character is sat at the table as the relevance in the trailer isn't shown directly and it gave away from intensity that we were trying to create

Question 4. One of the directions that people gave us feed back on was to add in more happy scenes as at the moment there is a lot of emphasis on the distress in these scenes. We are taking this into account and thinking about re filming some of our scenes and we are having a meeting to discuss what we can add in.

Question 5.  When we asked our target audience they said that they thought bar one person that we had used correct lighting to reflect the mood that we were trying to portray in the trailer.

Question 6. 8 people stated that after they had watched the teaser trailer they would like to watch the movie which is a good result but we are trying to aim to get all of the focus group to want to watch the trailer so that the movie has a large audience so that it will appeal to all of our target audience.

Question 7. One person advise was to add more of a cliff hanger to give more of a powerful ending so we are going to re film the ending to make sure it is powerful enough

Question 8. The least favourite scenes in the trailer were the phones buzzing at the end and when the main character gets stood up to fix this we have got rid of the scene of our main character getting stood up and also we are re filming the phone scenes to hopefully improve our teaser trailer.

Question 9. Everyone in our focus group thought that we have used a wide range of camera shots and angle which is what we tried to create as it shows different moods.

Question 10. 6 people said that they felt they could relate to the character in the trailer and that it was the main character that they could relate to which is good as people will feel as if they are in the film.

Question 11. We asked people to rate our teaser trailer from 1 - 5 with 5 being the highest
Four people gave it a 3, Four people also gave a 4 and two people gave our film a 5 which is really pleasing as it shows that people do like our teaser trailer

Questionnaire on editing

We constructed this questionnaire to show a focus group of our rough cut of our teaser trailer so that we can then see what needs improving and then create a improvement action plan according to what our target audience want the advantage of this is that we are asking directly to what our target audience want and think we should improve.

Feedback ..............

We have shown our teaser trailer to our classmates that are also creating teaser trailers as they know the criteria that we have to meet.I  can't upload the video's to my blog because they are to big so i can't show you , We've asked our class to give their evaluation. The evaluation is shown on the comments

What editing programme should we use?

One of the options for editing is Windows Movie Maker it is included on Microsoft Windows Me, XP, and Vista. It allows us to add features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline and narration. There is a new updated version of Windows movie maker which is called Windows Live Movie Maker, which is now included with Windows Live Essentials, a free download from Windows Live; that does not have the same features as Windows Movie Maker. This may be a good choice to use as we have already had some expirence using it although there were some complications while editing so i am going to research other editing programmes.

The other editing programe that we have acess to is Final Cut Pro which is used on appel Macs.  The software allows users to log and capture video onto a hard drive, where it can be edited, processed, and output to a wide variety of formats. We could use this as it is similar to Windows movie maker and it is simple to use and we can all use it.

Filming!

We have finished filming and we have let people our fellow classmates watch and analyse what they thought of the clips and then they told us what they thought and gave us some tips on how to create the movie and editing.

Filming :D

We have starteding filming our film it has been going well we have followed the storyboard as this helps us to with the directions. I cant upload the videos at the moment as they are to large to fit the on my blog.

Monday 22 November 2010

Editing :D

The first thing to do when editing is to upload your videos which is shown by the arrow on the page you click on the page and then have to go through the files to find your clip and then you  have to upload all of your images

After you have uploaded all of your videos you drag the videos in the section that the arrow is pointing at then you can put the videos into the order that you want them to be on you can also change the way you look at the videos by clicking on the Show Storyboard which is on the line in the picture above this gives you a different view which can then be helpful for some people.

After you have ordered your videos and then you can click on the video and shorten the length by pulling the edge of the picture to the length that you want. After you have got them to the length that you wish you can then put transitions in between the videos which makes them run smoother. If you want to add text in the movie you can by clicking on the button saying underneath the transitions button.

Shooting Schedule

Before we start filming the group and i came together to create a shooting schedule on the days that the actors and the cast were free we compiled a three day schedule so we could get the filming completed in a weekend. Which would give us the chance to have more time so that if we found we needed to film any more scenes then we would be able to.

Two Step flow ..

Another media theory is the two step flow the theory states that information from the media moves in two ways. Firstly is moves from individuals (opinion leaders) who pay close attention to the mass media and its messages. Opinion leaders then pass on their own interpretations. Opinion leaders can be influential in getting people to change their attitudes and behaviors. The opinion leaders then pass on their interpretations to the mass media consumers

Friday 12 November 2010

The hypodermic needle theory!

The hypodermic needle theory states that mass media has a direct, immediate and powerful effect on their audiences.

The theory states the the mass media puts across there attitudes into the audience and the audience are influenced by this. It suggests that the there is a  passive audience and that the mass media manipulates how society think. They theory main link is to violence for instance if a child was to play a violent game on there Xbox the theory states that the child will then go and copy the game because the mass media are injecting there beliefs in to society. It can also been shown through scary movies it is now becoming increasingly hard to scare society in films because there are many scary films.

The theory also says that not every will interpreted the texts the same way they will interpret the media text in there own way.

This theory could possible have an effect on our audience with the scenes of suicide but we have met the BBFC classification for a 15 so the film will be able to be seen from all ages above 15 and non of the specfics are shown throughout the film so it will not be easy to copy the film.

External factors while filming

While filming our teaser trailer there are some things that we can't control called external factors which are things that are out of our control which may effect us while making our teaser trailer
One of the main problems is the weather as when we need to film our scenes outside if it isn't the correct weather then it will mean  that we won't be able to film on that day putting us behind on our schedule.
Also the time of year that the film is being set in may contrast with the time of year that it is in the film is being shot in. The technology that we have access to will limit us in the creation of our teaser trailer as we have a limited budget so we will have to create our teaser trailer with the equipment that we have.

Consent form :D

Before we can start filming we need to get the consent from our actors and anyone appearing in our film and the locations for our film so we have created this connsent form which we will hand out to all of the partisipating people in our film.

Social networking sites!

Social networking is now playing a large part in the advertising in films

Using soical networking sites to provide information about the film, Using the networking sites allows us to display photographs of the film so people can see what will  be involed in the film. It allows people to like the page so more people will see it and also allows general public to view the website. It is also free to use so it works as free advertising, it enables the asvertising campign to have a global audience.
We are coming to create a facebook for our film as it will create a good marketing campaign.

Flim Posters .....

The notebook
This is a romance film.

The scene is kissing in the rain which is meant to be one of the most romantic scenes, which will make the audience want to watch the film. Also the way the actors are holding each other shows the relationship between the characters with them about to kiss it creates questions in the readers head but it doesn't give away to much so it will make the audience want to watch the film.
There is a quote at the top of the page which draws people in to watch the movie as they then know that the story is a great love story.
The sky is bright which goes against the heavy rain because normally the sky would be dark show the bright sky shows that there may be good shown throughout out the film and the heavy rain normally co notates that something bad is going to happen which could show that there is something bad that happens throughout the movie.
The ring that is on the girls finger is on her marriage finger which could show that she is engaged which would also create questions within the audience head. The icon on the left hand side shows the production company that produce the film which if people recognise they may want to watch the film.
The title is written is a bold font which makes it stand out so the audience will remember the name of the film. The name of the actors are shown but do not draw to much attention away from the picture as that is the main feature on the page, the actors names do draw some of the audience in as they may like the actors in the film. The small print is all of the copyright which is at the bottom of the page so it doesn't draw attention away from the main picture.

The Leap year poster has a plain green background which can co notate clean and fresh which could mean that the film has a fresh start and having a new beginning but it can also have a negative co notates of jealousy which could show that there is some jealousy throughout the movie. The colour also links into the small righting which gives an incite into the movie and it creates questions in the readers mind because they are wondering what will happen in the film.

The actors names are dominate on this film poster as the actors are more well known so it will encourage people to watch the film.
The title the word LEAP is in bold to make it stand out and the year is less which could mean that the word is important within the film and the actors have to leap.

The small print is all the information about the production company and then it has the release date in bold to make it stand out so people will remember it.

Remember me..
The colours used in the poster are Black and White which are associated with being in the past this could show that the film is set in the past or has old fashion views.
The red title co notates with passion and love which could show that there is a lot of passion throughout the movie. The actors names are at the top of the page which could show that they are big actors and that they will attract people to watch the movie because of the actors.
The black line on the page gives the impression that the rest of the page is getting ripped out which could show that the film shows people lives slipping out of control.
The pictures shows a relaxed  couple and how close they are shows that there is a strong relationship between each other. The faded background has the shape of a city but it could also show that the background is irrelevant where ever the couple are.
The small print on the side doesn't draw attention away from the main pictures.

Location

Possible locations for Love Drug

We chose this location because it looks like a typical teenagers room. Also it gives a homely feel also with the colours being relaxing which links into the romance genre, also the pink links into romance genre. This room is going to be used as Chloe's room.

This is the bathroom that is going to be used through the filming as it is realistic to be a females bathroom with the pink accessories. The room is very light which will enable us to have better lighting for our film.

This is another picture of the bathroom in different lighting so we can see what type of lighting would be best to use and also to see how the bathroom would look from a different angle to see where would be best to shoot our film as the main part of the trailer is in the bathroom
This a picture of the bedroom from a different angle with different lighting the pink bed covers links in with the romance genre and the bedside table with the other items shows the bedroom of a teenage girl

Final Logo .........

We have chosen this as our final design for our production logo as we didn't feel our first draft gave a professional appearance.  We couldn't recreate the draft because of the banner didn't run along the heart in the correct way. We have chosen the writing along the top as it links in with the romance from our movie and as we are a independent production company we are trying to differentiate ourselves from other production companies. The rose is bend into a love heart so it shows the romance genre.

To find out what song would be best suited for the soundtrack for Love Drug, The target audience had the choice of 8 songs that will be included in the film, the audience had to read the synopsis and then chose the song that they felt best suited the film. The overall outcome was that Ellie Gouldings live loung cover of Sweet Disposition

Thursday 4 November 2010

Soundtrack for our Love Drug

We have chosen the song Sweet Disposition as our sound track as we feel that the music fits the song well as through the teaser trailer the mood changes and this happens through the song as well. The song can also be interpreted in different ways.

Never too soon
Oh reckless abandon,
Like no one's watching you
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
Just stay there
Cause I'll be comin' over
While our bloods still young
It's so young, it runs
Won't stop til it's over
Won't stop to surrender
Songs of desperation
I played them for you
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
Just stay there
Cause I'll be comin' over
While our bloods still young
It's so young, it runs
Won't stop til it's over
Won't stop to surrender
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A moment, a love (won't stop to surrender

The lyrics from this part link in to all of the things that are going   many people will know the song.
This part of the song links into when Chloe is feeling along and  thinking about committing suicide. And the lyric of desperation    links into how Chloe is feeling.

The ending to the song ends on a more upbeat song which will create hope in the audiences head for Chloe.

Wednesday 3 November 2010

Propp came up with the theory that there are 7 types of characters that appear in films, not every character has a clear role within the film and some characters have a couple of the character types within their role

The eight types of characters..
  1. The villain — struggles against the hero.
  2. The donor — prepares the hero or gives the hero some magical object.
  3. The (magical) helper — helps the hero in the quest.
  4. The princess or prize — the hero deserves her throughout the story but is unable to marry her because of an unfair evil, usually because of the villain. the hero's journey is often ended when he marries the princess, thereby beating the villain.
  5. her father — gives the task to the hero, identifies the false hero, marries the hero, often sought for during the narrative. Propp noted that functionally, the princess and the father can not be clearly distinguished.
  6. The dispatcher — character who makes the lack known and sends the hero off.
  7. The hero or victim/seeker hero — reacts to the donor, weds the princess.
  8. False hero — takes credit for the hero’s actions or tries to marry the princess.

How are romance characters represented in a film?

After watching and analysing romance trailers, i have decided to research the representation of main characters within a romance movie.

The two main characters are a male and a female then normally end up being a couple.
The female is normally represented as being weak and vulnerable, The female always wears nice clothes with natural make up and hair that is never out of place.
The male is normally represented as strong and not needing a female. They are also shown to be having a lot of male friends who they hang out with lots of his friends, they then towards the end of the film realise that they need the female

Our production logo...

The name for our production company is Rose and Thorn as the name is original and different to any of the normal production names. We chose this because the rose co notates good and loving which every film has some "good" within the film and the thorn can represent the bad within the film. Also the gold banner used links in with other production companies and shows that the production company is powerful and successful within the movie industry.

Why do we watch romance films

People like to watch romance movies because ....

People watch romance movies for escapism as it offers them the chance to escape from reality and feel as if they are part of the movie. Romance movies also make some people emotional so that they watch the movie to feel emotional. People also watch the movies as they want to relate to the things that happen in the movie and they also want to imagine that something like that could happen to them.

Certification of Love Drug

Using the British Board of Classification criteria we have decided to give our film a 15, this means nobody younger than 15 can see this film in a cinema. No-one younger than 15 can rent or buy a 15 rated VHS, DVD, Blu-ray Disc, UMD or game. We have gone through the criteria on the BBFC site and feel that this is best suited to our film

The following is the Criteria for a 15

Discrimination

The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour.

Drugs

Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.

Horror

Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.

Imitable behaviour

Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.

Language

There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, ‘fuck’). The strongest  terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.

Nudity

Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.

Sex

Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely  to be acceptable unless justified by context. Works whose primary purpose is sexual arousal or stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.

Theme

No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds.

Violence

Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification.

We have given our film this classification because from the Imitable behaviour section as in our film we show some scenes of dangerous behaviour but through the BBFC criteria we will not dwell on this scene as it could be copied.

The name for our film!!

After our questionnaire results didn't give us an answer of what to name our film, we then went on to conduct more market research it the name of our film. We took some of the popular names from the questionnaire but also came up with some new names. Here are the results from our market research

Love Drug           12
Forgetting you      3
Love passing        4
Number 23          1

The outcome was that the title of our film is Love Drug

BBFC!

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), originally British Board of Film Censors, is a non-governmental organisation, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification of films within the United Kingdom. It has a statutory requirement to classify videos, DVDs and some video games under the Video Recordings Act 2010. The BBFC rates theatrically-released films, and rated videos and video games that forfeited exemption from the Video Recordings Act 1984, which was discovered in August 2009 to be unenforceable until the act was re-enacted as the Video Recordings Act 2010.[3] Legally, local authorities have the power to decide under what circumstances films are shown in cinemas, but they nearly always choose to follow the advice of the BBFC.

Suitable for all
It is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. But a ‘U’ film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. ‘U’ films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.
If a work is particularly suitable for a pre-school child to view alone, this will be indicated in the Consumer Advice.

PG Parental Guidance
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children.
Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.
12/ 12a Suitable for 12 years and over
Exactly the same criteria are used to classify works at ‘12A’ and ‘12’. These categories are awarded where the material is suitable, in general, only for those aged 12 and over. Works classified at these categories may upset children under 12 or contain material which many parents will find unsuitable for them.
The ‘12A’ category exists only for cinema films. No one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult, and films classified ‘12A’ are not recommended for a child below 12. An adult may take a younger child if, in their judgement, the film is suitable for that particular child. In such circumstances, responsibility for allowing a child under 12 to view lies with the accompanying adult.
The ‘12’ category exists only for video works. No one younger than 12 may rent or buy a ‘12’ rated video work.
15 Suitable only for 15 years or over
No-one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.
18 Suitable only for adults
No-one younger than 18 may see an ‘18’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 18 may rent or buy an ‘18’ rated video work
R18 To be shown only in specially licensed cinemas, or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults of not less than 18 years.
The ‘R18’ category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex or strong fetish material involving adults. Films may only be shown to adults in specially licensed cinemas, and video works may be supplied to adults only in licensed sex shops. ‘R18’ videos may not be supplied by mail order.

When the British Board of Classification give a film a certification that certification only apply to the U.K as in other countries the classification may be different this is because other countries have different values and believes for instance a film could be given a 15 in the U.K and in a different country may be an 18 because they have stricter rules.

Applying to our narrative ....

Equilibrium - Everything is normal in Chloe's life she has the "perfect life" she has all her friends her boyfriend and the perfect grades

Disruption - Slowly everything starts to slip from underneath her, with her fathers death, the distance of her best friend and her now ex boyfriend.

Reconciliation - When Chloe comes  to terms with everything, it all appears to be so much and with no one to talk to. There is only one way to fix everything through drugs

Attempt to repair - James the male best friend finds Chloe and rescues her.

Equilibrium - Chloe now released that James is who she is meant to be with, together they try to make her life perfect again

Todorov’s Theory of Narrative

Todorov suggested that conventional narratives are structured in five stages:
1. a state of equilibrium at the outset;
2. a disruption of the equilibrium by some action;
3. a recognition that there has been a disruption;
4. an attempt to repair the disruption;
5. a reinstatement of the equilibrium
This type of narrative structure is very familiar to us and can be applied to many

Questionnaire Analysis

As a group we collectively got together to analyse are finding from the questionnaire as this will help to create my web page and poster as well as helping the group to create our Teaser trailer....

Question 1). Most of the respondents were females as normal romance films target females we did ask a small majority of males to see if they would be interested in watching a romance films and to see if we could change anything to interest them.

Question 2). The main audience that we asked were between 15 - 20 as that is our target audience but we asked a small majority to fill in the questionnaire to see what they thought about the teaser trailer

Question 3). The majority answered as comedy being their favourite genre of film with romance coming in second, after a meeting we have chosen to do a romance movie as we do not feel that we would be able to create a comedy and we feel a romance would show our skills to the best of our ability.

Question 4). The answer that came out the most was that people go to the cinema once a month which means that people will be very specific to what they watch and the trailer will have to be powerful to gain a large audience.

Question 5). The audience answered mainly that they would like to watch the film after watching the synopsis which enables us to further our studies into our film and to start creating our story board.

Question 6). Although there were some suggestions to change to plot line was to add some action into the film we have chosen not to do this as we are limited with the facilities that we can use and we feel it would make the teaser trailer unrealistic.

Question 7). The expected things from a romance film trailer is a distribution and a happy but predictable ending.

Question 8). The colours that people associate with romance movies are Red, White Pink and Black which red co notates Passion and love as contrasted with the white which is a neutral colour and pink is also associated with love and black co notates danger and death which sometimes takes a part in romance film to make the audience feel emotion.

Question9). The majority stated that the did not visit film websites so our group will have to find a way to get people drawn to my website

Question 10). The main responses were that going on film websites did not interest them

Question 11). People stated that they would like Trailer,Galleries, Cast, About the film and Games on the films website

Question 12). People haven't found anything interesting that we can use because they haven't been on websites because they didn't know they exist we need to advertise more. We plan on doing this by making sure the URL of the website is on the trailer making it a dominant features so that people can watch the trailer.

Question 13).The audience stated that it didn't matter if a large production company or a independent company. Which has helped us come to the decision that we would like to come to the conclusion that we are going to use a independent company as if gives us a chance to widen are opportunities while filming as films produced by large companies follow a stereo typical conventions. Also the genre of film means that we don't have to have a large budget which would mean that an independent company would be able to afford it as there are no special effects are needed and that it doesn't matter if there are not as well known actors because the audience concentrate on the story line instead of the characters.

Question 14). People want to be made cry through a romance movie, as they want to have a emotional response

Question 15). The main place that people see film trailers is the cinema and TV  which would mean that we would have to get our film trailer on T/V and shown in the cinema.

Question 16).People do not look at reviews of the film before watching a film

Question 17). The main technique to get people to watch a film is through the trailer so many techniques are need to be used to attract the audience.

Question 18).Everyone gave different answers on our name choices so more research is needed to come to a final decision on our film name.

Production companies logos :D

A production company is a company responsible for physical production of new media, performing arts, film, radio or a television program. The company may also be directly responsible for the raising of funding for the production or may accomplish this through an intermediary. The production company may be a small company, selling its product to a film studio or presenting it at a theatrical venue, or, in the case of film and television, it may be the studio itself.

I have analysed independent and large companies as i felt this would give me a more round choice for what we need to base are Institution on and it will also help us to design are logo...

Synopsis changed ...

Everything in Chloe’s life is perfect; she has the perfect best friend, the perfect boyfriend and the perfect grades. Life’s going exactly how she had always imagined it to. Now that everything’s falling to plan, and everybody including her is turning 18, Chloe can’t wait to live life to the full. However, things don’t quite go her way.

Slowly Chloe’s perfect world starts to crumble; maybe her best friend Fran and boyfriend Daniel aren’t so perfect after all. What used to be one hour phone calls every night between Fran and Chloe soon changed to 10 minute calls once a week. Why was she acting so weird? Did it have something to do with Daniel and why he’s pressuring her into their ‘first time’? Chloe’s broken relationship with her mum has left her coming to terms with the death of her father all alone.

All Chloe has to do is find a solution to all of her problems, get things back on track so she can have her fairytale ending and be the perfect Chloe she once was. Will her best friend and boyfriend issues be fixed or will her desperation and despair leave her contemplating suicide?

We have changed the synopsis taking into account the audience research and adding more drama but still not giving away to much from the actual story. The story is about a troubled teen who had a prefect life but then her life starts to crumble before her eyes. We have chosen this as a lot of the audience will be able to relate to some of the things in the film and some being the same age they will be at some of the same stages in their life. As some of the target audience will be turning 18 and the excitement that they feel will be shown in the film and that teenagers go through tough times with their friends and many of them can fall out with friends so they will sympathies with the girl as they know how she is feeling.

Current Synopsis .....

Remember me synopsis

"A romantic drama set in New York City during the summer of 2001, where Tyler, a rebellious young man, meets Ally through a twist of fate. Her spirit helps him heal after a family tragedy, though soon the circumstances that brought them together threaten to tear them apart. "

This synopsis is short and it doesn't give to much away which is good because people will want to watch the film to find out. Also it has the main features in the fact that there is a male and a female who fall in love.

"ALONG CAME POLLY"

Reuben Feffer thinks he's found the love of his life but on his honeymoon he discovers her cheating on him with a scuba instructor. Reuben travels back home to get his life on track. On a night out with best pal, Sandy Lyle, Reuben discovers an old school friend, Polly Prince. Reuben feels a connection straight away, and tries constantly to get her to like her. But it's not going to be easy for Reuben, especially when he spends his days calculating risks, and when someone unexpected turns up.

This synopsis shows the big actors in the film which attracts some people that like the actors, also it gives some of the plot away but not to much so the audience still want to watch the film.

Core Audience ....

My core buyer for the romance teaser trailer is teenagers and young adults this is because most of them will be able to relate to the film. The film will be aimed at just females aged between 16 to 20 as they will be going through some of the same things as our main character. They have a interest in movies and watching them and would like to watch more films further. They will be from a working to middle class background and because the majority will be students they will have a limited budget and will have less money to spend of luxury items such as going to the cinema.

Questionnaire ..

We formed this questionnaire to find out what are target audience would want from a romance teaser trailer, we have also constructed it to see what the audience would like from our individual website. We will take this information and use it in the production of our teaser trailer and our websites. By conducting this questionnaire we will be able to keep in mind what our audience want.
